Transforming Lives Through Wrap Around Family Care: A New Pilot Program Funded by Llewellyn Foundation

December 14, 2023

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our Wrap Around Family Care (WAFC) pilot program in The Meadowlark, made possible by the generous support of the Llewellyn Foundation. This initiative marks a significant stride in our commitment to providing comprehensive, holistic support to families affected by houselessness, and domestic and sexual violence.

At the core of the WAFC program is a team of dedicated graduate-level counseling and social work students, offering a cost-effective solution to address the mental health care needs of the parents and their children who take shelter in The Meadowlark. Drawing inspiration from successful wrap-around care models in medical and mental health fields, our clinical team and direct service staff work closely with each other and the parents to develop personalized plans for each member of a family. These plans include parenting support, education, collaboration with schools, medical providers, and community services, along with behavioral health services.

The WAFC project is built for the long game, helping families transition from shelter to stable housing success. The program’s efficacy will be evaluated through a combination of quantitative and qualitative measures, with the support of the University of Montana, ensuring a thorough and insightful analysis that will guide services for years to come.

And why should you care? Beyond its immediate impact on individual families, the WAFC program has the potential to positively influence our whole community. By addressing root causes, providing holistic support, and expediting housing transitions, this initiative could alleviate burdens on emergency rooms, law enforcement, and other social services. It is our belief that by offering comprehensive support, we can make important strides to break generational cycles of trauma, ultimately creating a more equitable, resilient and empowered community.

We express our sincere gratitude to the Llewellyn Foundation for their pivotal role in making the WAFC program a reality. Together, we embark on a journey toward fostering positive change, transforming the lives of families within our community.
