Domestic Violence Awareness Month, observed every October, serves as a critical time to raise awareness about the realities of domestic violence and support survivors in our community. Every year, millions of individuals—primarily women—experience domestic abuse, a cycle that can include emotional, physical, and financial control.
At YWCA Missoula, we believe that everyone deserves to live free from fear and violence. Our mission is to not only raise awareness but to provide meaningful support and resources for survivors. Through our Pathways Program, we offer confidential services including a 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelter, safety planning, and advocacy to those facing domestic violence.
Ending domestic violence requires a community-wide effort. By understanding the signs of abuse and speaking out against it, we can make a difference. You can help by educating yourself and others, supporting survivors, and advocating for policies that protect victims.
This October, join YWCA Missoula in standing with survivors and working toward a future free from domestic violence. Together, we can create a community where everyone feels safe, supported, and empowered.
