Housing is a human right. And yet, many families in our community—whether due to loss of employment, unaffordable rent or domestic violence—find themselves without a safe place to live. YWCA Missoula provides short-term emergency housing to families who are unsheltered along with the support and resources to move into permanent homes of their own.

Emergency Housing

Missoula Family Housing Center

The Missoula Family Housing Center, jointly run by YWCA Missoula and MIC’s Family Promise, offers short-term emergency housing for up to 31 families with children while they seek permanent housing. Families stay in private sleeping rooms with full bathrooms, and have access to a large shared kitchen and dining area, outdoor play space, children’s programs and therapeutic services. Family Promise volunteers serve dinner to residents five nights a week. The Missoula Family Housing Center is located in The Meadowlark.

Eligibility:

  • A family who is unsheltered: living in a place not intended for human habitation or in a motel paid for by a government or charitable organization.
  • A family who is facing eviction within 14 days and has not identified a subsequent residence.
  • The family must have at least one child under age 18 in their custody at least 50% of the time, or the woman is pregnant.
