Learn More – Get Involved – Donate

May 5th is the annual day of awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW), with the goal to bring more attention and action to this critical issue in Montana and across the country. Here are just a few places where you can learn more, get involved, and donate to support families impacted by MMIW.

  • Missoula Project Beacon (a program of All Nations Health Center)- provides services and support to American Indian and Alaska Native survivors of sex trafficking while also educating the Missoula community on culturally-appropriate ways to address human trafficking.
  • Snowbird Fund–  supports Native families in Montana as they conduct their own community searches by providing direct payments to families or individuals leading the search for their missing loved ones.
  • Sovereign Bodies Institute– Maintains a national MMIP database and conducts research to work towards ending violence against Indigenous people.
  • NIWRC- National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center– a Native-led nonprofit organization dedicated to ending violence against Native women and children.
  • MMIW USA– An organization dedicated to bringing home the missing and to helping the families of the murdered cope and support them through the process of grief.
  • Ivan and Ivy MacDonald’s fundraiser for families– This fundraiser was created to support and honor those that shared their stories in the Showtime series Murder in Big Horn. 100% of the money raised from this fundraiser will go to all the families that appeared in the series
